IranThis crisis with Iran is as artificial as can be imagined. The Western powers (and Russia) don't think twice about Israel having nuclear power, but when Iran does, it's completely unacceptable. My own opinion of the Iranian leadership isn't very high, but that doesn't mean I can't see through this. This is not about nuclear power, it's about petrodollars vs. petroeuros.

Well said
I couldn't have expressed this better. You are right on. Was just talking about this earlier today with my husband.

Not really
I don't think the US fears the petroeuro issue from Iran too much. As long as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and others sticks with dollars, I don't think Iran's policies will have much effect. Many around the world resent the impact of the dollar's influence, but they are also quite addicted to it after so long. The US buys this attitude with its high trade imbalance - we subsidize many economies with our gluttony, so they subsidize us with our own dollars, in a way.
It is a double standard compared to Israel, but the US administration trusts Israel to keep their bombs to themselves and they don't trust Iran to do so. The US was happy to have the nuclear monopoly that it had for a few years after WWII, and in a way it represents a nuclear monopoly in the middle east.
