These lyrics, by Woodie Guthrie, are an approximation. May be exact, I can't remember. Either way, it expresses my view of the Democratic and Republican parties. How can we love them when they can't be trusted to be true to us?

As an example, look at the way most politicians react to environmental problems in someone else's back yard versus their own back yard.

I would guess that everyone reading this has been called a "Nimby" by the media or corporate interests at least once. Nimby of course means NotInMyBackYard. Fair enough, I don't want to have dangerous stuff near me or my family.

But, unlike the Pols, Democrat or Republican alike, I am also concerned about what happens in my neighbor's back yard, even if that neighbor lives in Bhopal India

Unfortunately for our friends in Utah and Nevada, we don't have to go that far afield to make a difference today.

The federal government has plans to blow a huge hole into the desert in a place called the Diving Strake. The purpose of blowing this huge hole in the ground shouldn't surprise any of us. they are gathering data to use to build the "next generation" of nuclear weapons. The area where this blast is planned for has been subjected to many nuclear tests in the past, and no Environmental Impact Study has been done to show the effect that stirring up all that old radiation might be.

Anyway, this one looks to be worth our time, and something we might actually be able ti change, so put your shoulder to the wheel if you can, and make sure the media everywhere knows about the Divine Strake, and why the government needs to leave the people in the desert alone to enjoy their peace and quiet. Let's not be like those Ds and Rs who can only be counted on sometimes, and prove that we are the party that can be counted on all the time.
