The so-called "Democratic Party" is after Illinois Green gubenatorial candidate Rich Whitney. I met Rich even before the semi-mythical Green meeting in his home town of Carbondale, and can readily affirm that he's as solid as they come. The Dems are after him out of fear of the much-vaunted "spoiler effect." Well they should be: grassroots Democrats -- in my experience -- have considerably more horse sense than the big names in their party, and as they get past being star-struck with celebrities, they start to ponder who really embodies their values... and it ain't the "Democratic Party." It's the Green Party. So if the big names pick at nits to keep us from running, don't be surprised. It's all they've got on us.
