Green withdraws from Congressional race to help Dems

Ballot-Access is reporting that a Green Party candidate for Congress is pulling out of the race so that he can help the Democrats defeats a Republican incumbent.

The Green Party candidate for U.S. House in Connecticut’s 4th district announced today that he is withdrawing. Connecticut law permits a candidate’s name to be omitted from the ballot as late as October 24. The withdrawal is motivated by the Green Party’s desire to help the Democratic candidate defeat the Republican incumbent.

The candidate is Richard Z. Duffee. There is nothing on his Web site as of this posting to indicate he has made that decision.

But Richard Winger, who runs Ballot Access, is rarely wrong. There is still a Libertarian candidate to challenge Congressman Shays and the Democratic candidate.

Let me be the first to say...

...that I am very strongly opposed to this. This sort of wishy-washy behavior has extremely destructive ripple effects on Green candidates across the nation.
